My anniversary treat!

My best friend Kim made these for me on my anniversary. They were as good as they look, and yes I did share them with my kids! I would have shared them with Darrick as we celebrated but he had left earlier that morning for Vegas and so breakfast was all that we shared that day! That's how life goes I guess. We've made it 15 years. That's something to celebrate!

Getting ready to drive to the competition

Getting in that truck.....there's no turning back!

There's a funny story to go along with these pictures! We had plenty of time to get ready and things went so smoothly.....not ordinary! We were getting ready for dance competition and it was solo's night. Naomi would be performing her solo and she was pretty nervous. After asking if she had everything and was ready to go....we headed out the door. We went early (thank goodness) so that we could watch her dance teachers 2 year old perform her solo. (SO CUTE!) All the pictures above had been taken to this point. After watching Rylinn.....Naomi leaned down to me on the bleachers and whispered "Mom, I don't have my hot shorts on underneath my costume!" I asked her what she had on? She said "Nothing, but tights!" I am so glad she noticed this and not waited until she was performing. (although it would have been a great laugh) I rushed home to grab her hot shorts and made it back in plenty of time before Naomi danced. If something didn't go wrong during competition....it just wouldn't be normal.

A day at the skate park....again!

I have a feeling we will be at the skate park a lot this summer. Shay loves to rollerblade & skateboard. While Nate loves to run around or play on the playground. Naomi comes because I beg her too & Marissa usually joins us. Aren't they all cute?

Home Show

Darrick has been busy doing a couple of home shows...hoping to get more work! (This economy is not helping any.) We have been blessed this far...but would like to know we'll be okay in the future. He looks so excited doesn't he?

Tooth #3

Tooth #3. When Nate gets a loose tooth, he pulls and twists until that tooth comes out. He just started losing his teeth a couple of months ago. It's always the "grand" event!

Big Converse Shoes Little Feet

Yesterday morning was like every other school morning. Wake up the kids, feed them breakfast, make them shower, check to see that their clothes match, make beds and rush out the door at just the right min. so that we won't be late! Shay had left to rollerblade with friends to school so it was just Nate and I. The time was closing in on us so we were both hurrying to get ready. Nate had put on shorts and handed me his converse shoes. I helped him get them on and out the door we went. After dropping him off at school and watching him run to class....I thought.....those shoes look so big on his feet. Maybe it's just because they're high top converse's and they have the potential of making ones feet appear larger than normal.
So the day goes on!
I walk down to pick them up from school and as Nate is walking towards me I couldn't help but notice the hugeness of his feet. I thought "why haven't I noticed this before?" I chalked it up to him wearing jeans with them and not seeing him wear them with shorts. As we continued home, I couldn't help but glance down at his feet! What was going on? Why hadn't I noticed this before now? And then it came.........
They were Shay's shoes. They both have black converse shoes!!!!!
I laughed so hard! When I asked Nate if he had on his or Shay's shoes...he looked confused and then laughed out loud saying "I thought my feet had shrunk last night!" It was one of those moments that I wish I could keep for the rest of my life. Nate's tiny hand in mine, walking up the road, wearing too big of shoes for those two little feet, and laughing with one another when the realization came! The look on his face was priceless.

Ward Talent Show!

Friday night was our ward Ice cream social/ talent show. Our acivities commitee does a great job. This year all our kids signed up to demonstrate a talent or display a talent.
Naomi danced her solo (for this year). I signed her up thinking it would give her practice before competition starts. She wasn't real happy with me. She begged me for a week straight not to make her do it. Finally, we said "ok, do what you want." But she came through and even "Thanked" me when it was all over. She did a great job and we are so proud of her. This is her 4th year dancing and she has made incredible strides.
Shay did tricks off his jump on his rollerblades. We set his jump up on the gym floor and he performed 4 different tricks. He did a great job! I will try and post video of it.
Nate displayed some of his bionicles that he has put together along with a ferris wheel made of kynex. He loves to build as I have mentioned before. He stood by the table the whole time, watching carefully over his valuables and explaining how long each model took him to build. He did an amazing job demonstrating for a 7 year old.
It was great to see the many talents in our ward and to be able to watch our own kids participate. Our kids would rather sit back and let someone else get the attention and so we're proud of them for coming out of their shell and performing or demonstrating their talents.
