Logan Tri 09'
Darrick & his brother Travis participated in the Logan Triathlon on July 18th. They both did a great job. Below are some pics taken at the race. They start with a 500 meter swim, then a 12.5 mile bike ride, & ended with a 5K (3.1 miles) run. Darrick's time was 1 hr 10 min 23 sec. Travis's time was 1 hr 23 min 58 sec. He (Travis) did great for his 1st triathlon & little to no training. He's the image of athletic purity! I mean just look at him......he belongs in a sports illustrated magazine! LOL! :) Just kidding Trav! It was a lot of fun to be there and watch these two go from one event to the other. It was a hot day & the race started late so both did exceptionally well under the conditions. Darrick took 3rd place in his age division & 14th overall (men & women). Way to go both of you......your family is so proud!!!!

Red Hot Pink Chicks 1/2 Marathon
Pic. taken around mile 6
Getting close the finish line
Coming in to the finish!
Nate checking out my cool pig medal! :)
Don't know exactly what Gloria was doing,...but this pic. makes me laugh! The whole race Gloria kept me smiling with her laugh!!!
Alexis, Gloria & Me
Picture at the end with some who participated in the 1/2.
We even had 4 men who braved it out with all the red hot pink chicks!!
This race was a really fun race! I had the priviledge of running it with my friend Alexis (1st timer) & her Mom, Gloria (who runs ALOT.) This race was one with NO pressure, lots of pink, and many smiling faces! I talked Alexis into running this race. She basically had 3 weeks to prepare for it. Before training for this race the longest she had ever run was 4 miles. The longest training run we did was 8 miles, but she was willing to keep going. Alexis ran this 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles) without stopping for anything. She drank water while running & pushed ahead. She ran an amazing race & I am so glad that her & her Mom decided to run it with me. My friend Susan & her sister Jackie also ran it. This was Jackie's 1st 1/2 marathon as well & I was so happy to see her cross the finish line. Way to go girls!!!!
Having a "cold" one!
Here's to you!!!
As quoted on Aunt Brenda & Uncle Steve's Blog:
"The boys having a "cold" one."
Aunt Brenda & Uncle Steve were nice enough to take the boys for the evening while Naomi & I went to see a movie. This pic was taken on the back porch swing while Uncle Steve & Nate enjoyed a nice cold beverage of choice. We were told that Nate thought he was "big stuff" spending this moment with Uncle Steve.
Thanks guys for taking the boys overnight so that Naomi & I could have some 1 on 1 time! We always know they're in good hands!!!! Glad to know it really wasn't a "bud" but just a "coke!"

Happy 14th Birthday Naomi!!!!

Happy Birthday to our one & only Nomi Paige!!!
I wish my scanner worked so I could load pics of you & show off how cute you were as a baby! But look at how beautiful you have become. We can't believe how fast time has passed us by. It seems just days ago I was waiting for your Dad to return home from his 2 week Marine Corp training,....to tell him I was in labor....and that you soon would be with us!
You were born a tiny 4 lbs 14 oz. but strong as ever. You amazed every nurse in that nursery when you picked your head up & looked around! You've always been strong! And always looking around for your next adventure & opportunity!
And now look at you......14 years old. Where did the years go? And why so fast?
We are amazed at the growth you've had this year! We are so proud of you for pulling a 4.0 GPA all year & excelling in dance. You set goals & you work to achieve them. You take life on and you go after the things you want most. Never lose that drive for life!
You are an amazing daughter & sister. Though your brothers may tease you, they love you.
We wish you a great day full of friends, family, laughter & all the many wishes you want for this coming year.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!!

Hot air balloons getting ready to launch!
Father's Day!
The kids woke up early to fix their Dad breakfast. Naomi made all the crepes, the boys made the cards, juice & lit candles :), & I helped out by cooking the scrambled eggs. They love to make us breakfast on our special days. We had a great day together & got to enjoy having dinner with Claude, Delphne & Matt (Darrick's friends) later that night.
Wishes do come true!
Some things never change!
Darrick & Claude Gamiette
On June 20th Darrick received a phone call by a friend stating that Claude Gamiette was in town & would like to get together. Darrick & Claude had been missionary companions twice during their Mission in FL. Claude is from the island of Guadaloupe (french west indies.) Since Darrick & I got married I have heard many stories about Elder Gamiette & how Darrick wished we could go visit him one day. Both of us had little hope to see him again......until that Sat. that Darrick's wish came true. What a great Father's Day that he will forever remember. I now know why this guy made such an impression on Darrick. What an unbelieveable person he is. We got to meet his wife, who is beautiful on the inside & out. We had the opportunity to spend 2 days with them & it was sad to see them leave.
Claude has been called as a Mission Pres. and will move his family to Trinidad. We wish them all the luck in the world & hope to see them again.
